Essential Reading: How to Approach These Prophetic Words

Welcome, my friends! I am so incredibly grateful that you are here. Before you dive into the reflections, dreams, and prophetic words shared in these blog posts, I want to invite you into a space of shared understanding. My absolute heart in sharing these words is that they bless you deeply, activate your faith, and draw you into a closer, more vibrant relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Because I love the Church and want to honour spiritual gifts safely, biblically, and in full alignment with our Catholic faith, it is vital that we frame these writings exactly how the Church guides us to.

What the Church Teaches: Private Revelation

In Catholic theology, the public revelation of God—the complete deposit of faith—was finalised with the death of the last Apostle and is preserved for us in Sacred Scripture and Holy Tradition. What you will read on this blog falls under the category of what the Church calls private revelation.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains the role of private revelation clearly:

"It is not their role to improve or complete Christ's definitive Revelation, but to help live more fully by it in a certain period of history." (CCC 67)

As Saint Paul explicitly instructs us in 1 Corinthians 14:3, the spiritual gift of prophecy today is given for three clear reasons: upbuilding, encouragement, and consolation. These words are not meant to dictate your life or add new doctrines; they are simply a timely echo of God’s love, meant to encourage the Body of Christ in our current season, always pointing back to Christ.

The Anchor: Scriptural Foundations

You will notice that every single blog post here concludes with a dedicated section called Scriptural Foundations. The Holy Spirit never contradicts Himself. A genuine prophetic whisper or dream today will always harmonise perfectly with the eternal Word He wrote centuries ago.

I include these scriptures so that you don't just take my word for it. Sacred Scripture is alive and active. By providing these references, I am giving you the tools to look directly at the Bible and see the unchanging heart of God behind the modern reflections I share.

Your Invitation: Take It to Prayer and Discern

Prophecy is a collaborative relationship between God, the person sharing it, and the person receiving it. When a prophetic word is shared, the responsibility shifts to the reader to take it to the Lord.

Saint Paul commands us in holy Scripture: "Do not quench the Spirit, do not despise prophesying, but test everything; hold fast what is good" (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21).

Therefore, I warmly invite you:

1. Take these words into your personal prayer time. Sit before the Blessed Sacrament or in your quiet place of prayer and ask, "Lord, what are You saying to me through this?"

2. Discern for yourself based on what the Church teaches. Chew on the words, weigh them against the Scriptural Foundations provided, and see how they resonate with your spirit. If a particular part brings you peace, joy, and a closer connection to Jesus—hold fast to it! If a part doesn’t resonate with you right now, it is entirely okay to set it aside.

My prayer is that as you read these posts, the Holy Spirit sparks something fresh inside your heart, and that you develop a deep, personal hunger to hear from the Lord yourself in your daily life and a profound love of reading His Word.

May God bless you,

Leanne Buckley
